Former Harambee stars midfielder MacDonald Mariga has hit out to the federation of Kenya football (FKF) boss Nick Mwendwa over his remarks that Kenya lacks talented football players to compete with other nations.
Nick Mwendwa, while speaking on NTV, alleged that Kenya lacks quality players to compete with Mali.
”Even if Harambee stars are coached with Jose Mourinho (AS Roma Coach) or Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta it wouldn’t defeat Mali” Said Mwendwa
This has angered the former international and to this end, Mariga wants the FKF Boss to pack and go immediately.
”I’m appalled by FKF President @Nmwendwa sentiments made on live Tv that Kenya has no talented football players to compete with other nations. This is an insult & disrespect to the current, former & all upcoming footballers who have continuously suffered playing under his reign, the players have shown immense pride and patriotism to represent the Kenyan flag in various international assignments and this is what they get in return” Tweeted Mariga.
He went ahead saying” For 7 years under his leadership, Football in Kenya has gone backward and no progress whatsoever and for that, We demand for his immediate apology and resignation as FKF boss”.
Mwendwa has been in the past few weeks under fire over dismal displays of result by Harambee stars recently being an embarrassing 5 -0 defeat in the hand of the Les Aigles Mali.
