ASTU Police Officer Batters Wife After Busting Her with Boyfriend in Their Rented House

Joyce Nyakio, wife to sergeant Gilbert Kiprotich, an officer attached to the Anti Stock Theft Unit in Maili Saba is nursing deep cuts on her body following an attack by her husband who busted her with another man in their rented house in Nyahururu, Laikipia County.

After being assaulted by the husband who decried her philanderous ways, a helpless Nyakio rushed to Rumuruti district hospital for medical help but was instantly referred to Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital for special care given that her injuries were very severe.

Shocked by the state of Nyakio who had deep cuts on the head, both hands and on the right leg above the knee, the hospital manager sought the attention of police officers from the nearby Nyahururu police station to look into the matter.

The police swiftly acted to the request where they rushed to Nyakio’s hospital bed for assessment.

Upon inquiry, Joyce who hails from Magadi, Laikipia West sub county intimated that her husband came to their house unannounced at the wee hours of the night in the process busting her in the company of another man identified as Paul Mbugua.

Sergeant Kiprotich lost his cool and launched attacks on them but her boyfriend managed to escape leaving her to face the full wrath of the angered husband.

Interestingly, sergeant Kiprotich who was in the hospital’s vicinity at that time was arrested and is currently in safe police custody at Nyahururu Police station awaiting collection by officers from Rumuruti police station for action.

Nyakio has already been attended to and is currently in fair condition as her husband awaits possible arraignment in court where he will be charged for grievous harm to his wife.
