A Nairobi businessman Harrish Patel home was raided by a gang of thugs and made away with over Ksh twenty million and jewellery of unknown value.
Confirming the incident was the Starehe police Julius Kiragu who said that no one was injured during the night raid.
Muthaiga estate houses some of the most high-end individuals like former president Mwai Kibaki, former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero and even the current United Kingdom High Commission to Kenya Jane Marriot.
According to the police report, The thugs managed to break into the home of Harrish Patel, A businessman who runs the Kenya Horticultural Export Limited family business was held at gunpoint, with the night guards and three workers tied up in a separate room.
It is reported that the gang later proceeded to the main room where they demanded money and jewellery from the businessman.
It is also believed that the thieves had been fed with some information prior to the incident.
“We are following various leads that will help us arrest the gang of three whom we are told were armed with pistols,” said the police boss.
“We have also taken their mobile phone numbers for analysis to establish if they were in communication with the suspects” He added.
Reports indicate that the robbers scaled through the wall through a ladder made of tomato crates.
The night guards who were on duty said that they the alarm went off but there was no response from inside.
December last year, Industrialist and businessman Manu Chandaria’s home was raided with three thugs who went away with the unknown amount of money.
All the security officers who were on duty during that incident were arrested.
