Mighty Gor Mahia is through to semis after eliminating stubborn Kariobangi Sharks at Utalii grounds in Nairobi. Gor’s Burkina Faso striker powered a strong shot in the 43rd minute to give Gor Mahia the lead before the half time mark.
William Muluya’s men could have equalized in the 76 minutes through a penalty sport but thanks to Kogalo goalkeeper Gad Mathews who save the well-taken shot by Captain Geoffrey Lemu.
Substitute Sidney Ochieng, who came in for Kenneth Muguna in the 89th minute, seal the semifinal slot for the green army in the extra added time of 93rd by scoring a second goal.
Gor will now face Bidco United in the second semifinal after they beat Nairobi City Stars 1-0. Bidco’s only goal was scored by David Orem in the 21st minute.
In the first semi, AFC Leopards will battle it out with Equity FC.
Gor Mahia coach Manual Vas Pinto has noted he is now focusing on the next game against Bidco united.
‘’ Training starts tomorrow. We know Bidco is a good team. They have a good coach as well. But we are confident enough we will overcome them’’ he said
The winner of the cup will get 2 million Kenya shillings and get a chance to represent the country in the CAF confederation cup
