Highly Improved Harambee Stars Hammers Stubborn Rwanda’s Amavubi 2-1

Kenya national team Harambee stars have ended their world cup qualifier match on a high note by silencing the Amavubi of Rwanda 2-1.


Harambee stars dominated the first 45 minute leading to two quick goals from striker Michael Olunga in the 2nd minute and a penalty from Serbian-based Richard Odada in the 15th minute.

The match, with was played at the Nyayo national stadium, saw a much improved Kenyan side following a disappointing run in the previous matches.

Amavubi consolation goal was scored by Olivier Niyonzima in the 66th minute after a nice pass from Muhadjir Hakizimana.

The result placed Kenya in the 3rd position with 6 points while Amavubi remains at the bottom with only one point in group E that is topped by Mali who have qualified to the world cup play-off. Uganda cranes are at position two with 9 points.

This was literally the last Engin Firat match as Harambee stars coach as he was on a two months contract.
