Genge veteran Mejja alias Mtoto Wa Khadija has finally explained the reason he supports up and coming artists for free.
Appearing in the Morning Kiss by Kamene Goro and Jalango, he explained that he did not want the young artists to undergo the same fate as his after he was rejected by a popular artist because he could not raise Sh300, 000 for a collabo.
“I remember when the gospel industry was flying high and I wanted to do a gospel song to praise God. When I approached this artiste, he asked for Sh150,000 as a commitment fee and Sh150,000 more for recording the song and other incidentals,” he narrated.
Mejja declined to mention the name of the artist insisting that he did not want to meddle into his affairs. He however gave an hint revealing that they said artist used to sing with Daddy Owen in his prime days.
” It is not Bahati since we have done ‘Wanani’ together but the only hint is; it is one of the guys who used to sing with Daddy Owen. I was shocked because I thought he was my friend and I vowed that if God uplifts me then I will make it my mission to uplift others.”
