Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Tuesday 26th October decamped Jubilee Party and officially joined the Deputy President’s UDA Party.
After months of threats, Anne officially joined the ‘Tanga Tanga’ movement with a few MCA’s from Kirinyaga County where they also held a closed-door meeting with the Deputy President William Ruto at his Karen Resident.
The Kirinyaga County Chief has been for the last few months threatened to ditch President Uhuru’s Jubilee Party with excuses that she will join a party that his Kirinyaga people will tell her.
A few days ago while addressing a few residents of the Kirinyaga County, the governor asked the crowd to tell her where to go.
“If they ask me why I chose that party, I will tell them that the people of Kirinyaga picked it for me,” she said.
Sometime in September when she was hosted at a local tv station, she said that the Jubilee Party had lost touch with the people of the Mount Kenya region.
“If I ran today on a Jubilee ticket and someone else ran on a different party, even if people felt I had performed, it would be hard to convince them to vote for me.
“Jubilee has a lot of work in revamping the party and we need to do it fairly fast, revamping the party and resonating with the people. People need that emotional connection to the party,” she said.
