Hon. George Koimburi and Hon. Pavel Oimeke on Tuesday 8th took the oath of office as members of the National Assembly.
The swearing-in ceremonies of George Koimburi of the Juja constituency and Pavel Oimeke of the Bonchari constituency were presided over by Speaker Justin Muturi.
The new lawmakers were accompanied by MPs from their respective parties as witnesses before the oaths were administered.
Koimburi succeeds the late Francis Waititu, popularly known as Wakapee, who died in February after a long battle with brain cancer. While Oimeke took over from the late John Oroo Oyioka.
Koimburi, of PEP’s party headed by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, trounced Jubilee’s Susan Njeri to emerge the winner. He Garnered 12,159 votes against Njeri’s 5,746.
Oimeke, a former Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority director, garnered 8,049 votes to emerge victoriously. He contested an ODM ticket
Jubilee Party’s Zebedeo Opore got 7,279 votes to take the second position while UDA’s Teresa Bitutu took position three with 6,964 votes.
