The office of the Director Of Public Prosecution want Joseph Irungu alias ‘Jowies’ bond cancelled after he was allegedly involved in a fight at a club along Langata Road.

In a document that was submitted in court, The DPP submits that in June 2021, Joseph Irungu insulted one Rodgers Ochieng Okuta on March 7, 2021, at the popular 1824 club along Langata Road.

Jowie in his response, said that he was too drunk to remember anything that had happened that night at the club, all he could remember was him being escorted to a taxi by a friend where he went to one of his sibling’s houses and was later taken to the hospital since he had a deep cut.

According to the DPP, even though the case was withdrawn at the Langata Police Station, Jowie still committed an offence.

Jowie is accused of discussing Monica Murder’s case in one of the Youtube channels contrary to the directive that was issued by Justice justice James Wakiaga when his bond was being issued.

DPP also revealed that Jowie does not live with his parents as he had previously told the court when he was asking the court to release him on bail pending a hearing but lives in Nairobi and working for a private security company and he is a frequent customer to the club along Langata Road.

“That the accused has not only gone against the honourable court’s finding on the location or place of abode when the honourable judge granted the bail terms by being away from Nakuru County. He continues to move and reside within the Langata area being the secondary crime scene and the locality of the potential witnesses who have and are yet to testify” part of the application reads.

According to Jowie’s lawyer, David Ayuo told Justice Githua that the complainant who was assaulted withdrew the case and opted to sort the matter out of the court.

He also said that Jowie said that Jowie is trying to fend for his child and for his old parents who are in the village and that is why he working for the private security company.

And for the above reasons, the DPP wants his bail cancelled.

Jowie was charged with the murder of Monica Kimani and pleaded not guilty, was released on a cash bail of Ksh 2 million in February 2020.
