Italy’s Napoli, LaLiga side Valencia and French club Nice have all joined the race for Joseph Okumu’s signature who was earlier linked with a move to Rangers.
Joseph Okumu has been rated as one of Allsvenskan's best CB's for quite some time, and the numbers approve. Completely dominant defensively and *very* progressive on the ball, almost too risky at times. Linked with several clubs in the top leagues. pic.twitter.com/tEP7fNfR5D

Okumu, who has cemented his place in Jimmy Thelin’s IF Elfsborg first-team has been linked with a move away from the club. A few weeks ago he was linked with a switch to Scottish champions, Rangers although talks over a possible switch to Ibrox have since cooled down.
Interest in the towering defender has now increased with three more clubs joining the race for his signature. According to Swedish outlet, FotbollskanlenNice, Napoli and Valencia have all expressed interest in signing the former Chemelil Sugar FC man who will command a fee in the region of 2 million pounds.
Okumu has also admitted that if the right opportunities come his way he will definitely take them up.
“The Swedish league is a springboard for all players. If you do it well, hopefully, the right opportunity arises. If the right option emerges, I definitely want to take the next step,” he told Fotbollskanlen.
The defender is however cautious about where he will move to next. He says he will prioritize his career growth and will not just jump at any opportunity.
“It depends on the project. It’s not just about going to a top league or a top team. It’s all about where I can go and develop, where my playing style fits and where I can make an impression. I’m not just moving to move. It is important to see the bigger picture. It’s the dream all players have,” he added.
Should he move to the Laliga, he will become the third Kenyan to play in the Spanish top tier after McDonald Mariga and Michael Olunga. In France, he would become the third after Dennis Oliech and Luis Tera and if he opts for Napoli, he will become the second Kenyan to grace Serie A after McDonald Mariga.
Okumu is approximated to be worth Ksh 300 Million and the interested clubs are said to be willing to meet the cost of the promising defender.
