Only a day after the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine landed in the Country from the Serum Institute of India, Catholic doctors have come out protesting the vaccine which is set to be issued to health workers across the country.
Kenya Catholic Doctors Association (KCDA) in a statement maintains that there is no need for Kenyans to take the vaccine saying it is irrelevant.
According to the medics, the only means of controlling the spread of the virus is through wearing a mask, streaming of all covid -19 patients, treating of patients, and ensuring all patients are keenly observed for at least two weeks.
The medics, therefore, called on the faith-based organization to stop the vaccinations.
Dr. Stephen Karanja pleaded to Kenyans to reject the vaccine lamenting that it should not be distributed in the first place.
He said: “It seems there is something Bill Gates has invested in that requires the whole world to be vaccinated. What that investment remains the million-dollar question.”
However, Dr Peter Okoth of Unicef Kenya dismissed Catholic church doctors’ allegation saying that the vaccines are safe.
“Those who are hesitant will be provided with the right information and the vaccine is also not mandatory. A vaccine is just an additional tool in prevention measures out there,” Dr.he said.
