Senators have demanded the release of their colleagues before they can continue with the debate on county revenue sharing formula. They want the on-going sitting adjourned until the arrested senators are brought into the chamber. While taking to the floor of the house, the majority of the county representatives castigated the arrest of Senator Cleophas Malala (Kakamega), Senator Ltumbesi Lelegwe (Samburu), and their Bomet counterpart Christopher Langat.
Confirming the arrest of the senators, former Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murokomen issued a stern warning threatening that Senate proceeding would be halted if the three were not released.
The Senate will not proceed this morning unless they Produce Senator Malala (Kakamega) and Senator Langat (Bomet). This is nolonger about Money it’s about our lives !

The three were allegedly arrested over claims of incitement to violence whose details the police have refused to reveal. However, the arrests have fuelled the raging heat regarding the debate on the revenue sharing bill. The three were part of the Team Kenya that opposes the committee’s sharing formula.
The arrest of the three threatens to bring a stand-off in reaching a deal, something that could continue to starve the counties of the much-needed allocations.
