Beleaguered ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is a stickler for polygamy. Consequently, he has pledged alms towards men who have demonstrated wherewithal to cordially exist with the women in their lives- if they can prove the same.
Known to be unconventional in his approach to many issues- a feat touted to have cost him the seat of Nairobi CE0-Sonko said that hiding partners was the cause of bitter fights among couples yet the law allows men to marry more than one wife.
His move is believed to have been triggered by the latest spat between former partners and comics Prof. Hamo and Jemutai.
Sonko gave the example of Matatu Association boss Jamal Roho Safi who recently tied the knot with ex-socialite Amber Ray.
The challenge involved sharing the name and contacts of their wives and girlfriends to prove that they all coexisted peacefully.
“Rais alipitisha sheria ya kuwa na mpenzi zaidi ya mmoja. Haki this guy @jimal_rohosafi is a very good example to many Kenyans who have girlfriends but wanaficha bibi zao wasijue. The guy is so so genuine to both his wife and mpango wa kando @iam_amberay. Hebu nione if your wife knows about your girlfriend by giving details of your name and cell phone number, your wife’s name and her cellphone number and your girlfriend’s name and her cellphone number as well. 7k to first 15 genuine answers. Remember I will personally call to find out whether the information is true. Twende kazi. No matusi plse.”
A number of men participated in the challenge, with one explaining that he was happily married to two wives and had a total of six children.
However, many men cautious to participate with a few citing that Ksh7,000 was not enough to risk.

Hamo and Jemutai traded barbs from Friday to Sunday following accusations that the Hot 96 presenter had abandoned his two kids sired with the comedienne
Deputy President William Ruto is also among public figures who have publicly admitted to siring children out of wedlock.
Sonko has in the past revealed that he is in a polygamous marriage and that his two wives are well known to each other.
“I only have 2 and each has her own house and I respect them a lot especially mama watoto,” he said in a past post on Facebook, adding that honesty makes one a good leader.
He also caused ruckus during the celebration of the life of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
“Ken had a son with one of the nominated Nairobi MCAs,” he told the crowd
“The two lovebirds did not hide the fact that they shared a son, as demonstrated by pictures and various documented correspondence.”
Sonko continued to speak about Okoth’s affair and explained that he chose to reveal it so that the son would not be excluded from the burial process — and in the hopes that Okoth’s family could accept the child.
