The police officers who are suspected to have beaten one Robinson Manyonge alias Loketo to death were on Saturday arrested by officers from DCI.
The three officers Cpl David Sandera, Pc Lius Kiprop and one 04065 NPR Anthony Wangunda were arrested on Saturday after the mother of the deceased reported the matter to the Kiminini Police Station in Tranzoia County under the OB NO. 6/30/9/2021 AT 1047am.
According to one of Loketo’s friends who witnessed what happened told the police that while on their home on 28th September 2021 at around 20:45hrs, the three police officers called them and started beating them for no apparent reason.
The three officers after beating Loketo boarded two motorbikes and left him in great pain where he crawled until around 10:30 pm when he reached their home having sustained grievous injuries with clothes soaked in blood that was oozing from wounds he sustained.
The family swiftly rushed the helpless Loketo to a nearby health facility but due to his condition, he was referred immediately to the District hospital.
By the time his admission was secured, Loketo’s situation had gotten out of hand at a breakneck speed. He was struggling to breathe and could barely walk neither could he talk. He was apparently slipping into a coma.
The family now claims that they got information from witnesses who pleaded for anonymity that their kin was beaten by the police appear to intimidate him ahead of the case mention on 5th October where their inefficiency in expediting the case would have been unearthed.
The three rogue police officers were arrested and in police custody after which they will be charged immediately the DCI will be done with the investigations.
Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) visited the family and promise to get justice to their late son.
